Abstract

Essay of the mathematician and musician Eleazar Madriz about the dialectical relationship between two of the central elements of the materialization of the work of art and the generation of mathematical knowledge: discovery and cre- ation. Throughout the text, ideas intertwine following his trajectory as a scientist and artist.

Eleazar Madriz, Centro de Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas da Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia

Eleazar Madriz é músico e matemático. Fez o Bacharelado e o Doutorado em Matemática na Universidad Central de Venezuela, e o Mestrado em Ciencias de la Computación na Universidad Simón Bolívar, também na Venezuela. É professor do Centro de Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas da Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia, onde trabalha na área da Matemática Aplicada. Atualmente mora em Cruz das Almas, Bahia.
