This study analyzed the social representations of 178 Brazilian adolescents aged 11 to 16 regarding the consequences of homophobic bullying, using videos as stimuli in 45 focus groups. The thematic analysis revealed that adolescents recognize the negative consequences of this phenomenon. However, they also identify positive effects, which legitimize the dynamics of violence and point to a weakening of the school’s role in combating homophobia. The study highlights the urgency of anti-bullying policies that engage the school community, break the silence, and promote effective actions against violence.
