This article presents an inventory and analysis of observatories with a gender perspective or focused on women in Brazil. The research, aimed at implementing a new observatory, had the objectives of identifying best practices, understanding the potential of an observatory with a gender perspective, and identifying the challenges of its creation and sustainability. A total of 27 observatories were identified, with around 30% having been discontinued or lacking recent updates, indicating difficulties in their implementation and maintenance. The research also highlighted the centrality of the issue of violence against women for these observatories and the prominent role of public authorities in their creation.
