UNIVERSITY AND PROFESSIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION: KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS AND PROFESSOR ABOUT TRANSSEXUALITY
Abstract
Quantitative-qualitative, exploratory, cross-sectional research to analyze the knowledge about transsexuality among students and professors of health courses at a federal university. Participated of research, 144 students and 23 professors answered a questionnaire with sociodemographic data, understanding, and knowledge about transsexuality and health. There was a gap regarding the knowledge about transsexuality between teachers and students. Students take ownership of more concepts, but they feel insecure about attending to a trans person because it is not addressed in the curriculum. Although they think the theme is essential, professors do not approach students and know some concepts.
