Expressions of Ableism in the Access to Public Transportation by People with Disabilities in Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ: A Study Based on Newspaper Research

Abstract

The article analyzes the difficulties faced by people with disabilities in accessing public transportation in Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ, drawing on the debate on ableism and analyzing the consequences of neoliberal policies in this sector of public service, based on bibliographic, documentary, and newspaper research. The results point to the precariousness of the service, a shortage of vehicles, and the denial of free travel, highlighting the ableism suffered by people with disabilities when accessing the city's public buses and vans, which creates barriers to accessing this and other public services, making it necessary to listen to these people and meet their demands.
