Abstract

This article discusses the reality of elderly and poor women in the context of capitalist society, focusing on the municipality of Macaé, RJ, starting from research conducted with the elderly group at CRAS Lagomar, based on experiences from the Social Work Internship. The text discusses the aging process of women in poverty, analyzing how social inequalities affect living conditions and access to rights within a context of capitalist contradictions. Poverty, as an expression of the social question, manifests itself in different ways among individuals and directly impacts the aging process, which manifests itself unevenly, where the achievement of longevity is associated with material living conditions.
