O SAMBA NA PRAÇA E A APROPRIAÇÃO DO ESPAÇO PÚBLICO EM CAMPOS DOS GOYTACAZES-RJ

Abstract

The Samba na Praça cultural project takes place monthly in the central public space of the city of Campos dos Goytacazes-RJ called Jardim do Liceu, which makes up the historic quadrilateral of the municipality. However, the square used has an expressive architecture from the colonial period in the country. The present research studies the possible relationship between the occupation of the elite area and the anti-racist struggle. For this, we used a qualitative methodology with field trips, ethnographic-based observations, bibliographical review and documental research. The event also has a social fund, by mobilizing its participants in their networks to make donations to associations. We conclude that from the social, historical analysis and the occupation of the territory, the project indirectly contributes to the Afro-Brazilian cultural propagation and democratization of the local use.
