A CENTRALIDADE MATERNA NO ACOMPANHAMENTO DE CRIANÇAS COM LEUCEMIA LINFÓIDE AGUDA
Abstract
The article is the result of research carried out at the Institute of Hematology Arthur de Siqueira Cavalcante- Hemorio, which is the Coordinating Blood Center of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The main objective of this work is to understand what were the implications of the health treatment for the families that accompanied the hospitalizations of children diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL). We carried out a qualitative study through semi-structured interviews based on the Oral History technique, carried out with the companions of hospitalized children diagnosed with ALL. We identified that during treatment, families go through numerous challenges, not only physical, but also psychological, and this overload falls mostly on the female gender, resulting in an accumulation of socially established functions.
