Call for Dossier Organization
Antropolítica. Journal of Contemporary Anthropology, linked to PPGA/UFF, is accepting dossier proposals until 11/06/2023. Dossiers will be selected for publication starting with the 2025 issues.
The themes must be current, relevant, and linked to the field of Anthropology. To promote the submission of a sufficient and considerable number of articles in each dossier, we suggest avoiding very specific or restricted definitions of the theme and/or central question of each call.
From the organizers:
1. They must be organized by at least two professors with a Ph.D. degree, associated with graduate programs from different institutions, preferably based in different states and/or countries.
2. At least one of them must have a Ph.D. degree in Anthropology.
About the proposal:
The proposal must include the following items:
I - Proposed theme.
II – Title.
III - Names, titles, biographical summaries, and updated Lattes CVs of the organizers.
IV - Presentation and justification.
Submission:
1. The proposal must be sent to the Journal’s address (antropoliticauff@gmail.com) by 11/06/2023.
2. The document must be in Word format, with a maximum of ten thousand characters with spaces, Times New Roman font; size 12, 1.5 spacing between lines and paragraphs.
The criteria to be prioritized in the selection:
1. Regional or national diversity among the organizers’ institutions
2. Thematic diversity in relation to other dossiers recently published in the Journal
3. The organizers did not publish and/or organize a dossier in Antropolítica from 2021 to 2024.
4. Title of the organizers in the area of Anthropology
Announcement of the result
The result will be announced on the Journal’s website by 12/10/2023 and in the email message sent by the organizers.
Organization of the Dossier: once the call has been approved, the dossier must meet the following characteristics:
1. The calls remain open for 90 days from the date of their publication. If the organizers deem it necessary and as long as it does not delay the time available for the editorial process, the call can be extended for 15 or 30 days.
2. Briefly, the editorial process will be as follows: 1. The Journal receives the articles; 2. The Journal forwards them to the organizers to screen which articles will initially be rejected and which will proceed to peer review, indicating the list of possible reviewers (from 2 to 4 per article); 3. The Journal forwards the invitations to the reviewers and receives the reviews; 4. The organizers weigh the evaluations and make the final decision on the articles; 5. The Journal sends the selected articles to the authors for review; 6. The organizers must send the “Presentation” of the dossier, in article format (see point 8), presenting the issues and history of the theme and the articles.
3. All articles selected in the initial screening undergo peer review.
4. The reviewers should preferably be external to UFF and should also be anthropologists, in the majority. Geographical diversity is essential in the nominations, as this is an important aspect of the Journal’s evaluation. Nominations cannot be concentrated in a single state and/or institution, and, if feasible, foreign reviewers must also be nominated.
5. The nominated reviewers must be researchers capable of impartial and detailed evaluation of the articles.
6. The Dossiers should consist of a maximum of 6 articles plus presentation. It is desirable that 70% of the authors included be from the field of Anthropology and also from outside UFF. Likewise, regional and institutional diversity is desirable. In addition, it is desirable to include at least one Ph.D. holder as an author in all articles. Exceptionally, only two articles by Ph.D. candidates will be accepted per dossier.
6.1. Authors with a master’s degree, master’s students, a graduate degree, or an undergraduate degree may only publish articles co-authored with a Ph.D. degree.
7. The dossier organizers are only the authors of the Presentation (which, as explained below, is an article). Including articles authored or co-authored by them in the dossier is not desirable.
8. The organizers are responsible for presenting the dossier. It should be designed as an article presenting the dossier’s theme and the associated theoretical and empirical questions and highlighting how the selected articles fit into the proposed reflection. The presentation should be a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 pages. It should be preceded by a title, abstracts (250 words), and keywords in Portuguese and English.
8.1. The presentation and cover image should be submitted two months before the issue’s publication (see point 9).
9. The organizers are responsible for the cover of the issue. The cover must convey the theme of the Dossier and be submitted together with the presentation. It must be an image with good resolution and, preferably, large and with portrait orientation, as these are more suitable for graphic design. The image must comply with copyright and/or license for use.
