Carisma, personificação e revelação contínua: ampliando o conceito de Islã

Résumé

Este artigo tem o objetivo de ampliar e pluralizar nossa abordagem do Islã como uma tradição discursiva. Ele formula uma intervenção no debate acadêmico sobre a conceituação do Islã como uma tradição discursiva proposta por Talal Asad. Essa conceituação foi criticada por conter um certo viés sunita em sua noção de ortodoxia, notadamente por Shahab Ahmed e Zeynep Oktay. Esta última, com base em seu trabalho sobre o alevismo, argumentou a favor da autoridade carismática como um element importante na conceituação dos nós da normatividade islâmica. Dando continuidade a essas intervenções, este artigo sustenta que o reconhecimento do papel central do carisma, que é a ênfase na devoção à sacralidade corporificada nos santos, a corporificação do divino em locais e coisas sagradas e as dimensões afetivas da devoção (no contexto de paisagens sonoras e formações estéticas específicas) pode ajudar a descentralizar pontos de referência logocêntricos e leais às escrituras na conceituação do Islã. O artigo argumenta que a pluralização dos pontos de referência centrais na conceituação do Islã está alinhada a uma perspectiva genealógica, que deve ser cética em relação a conceituações do Islã que se sobrepõem a hegemonias estabelecidas e tomam como axiomática a centralidade das escrituras na devoção islâmica.
