In the analysis of organisational sustainability, eco-efficiency is one of the main indicators, traditionally understood as the interaction between economic and environmental dimensions to reduce impacts and use resources rationally. This essay questions this view, which often proves to be limited. The objective is to compose a new paradigm for analysing eco-efficiency as an indicator of organisational sustainability, arguing that socio-environmental justice is an essential component for adding environmental preservation and the right to social dignity to the analysis, without compromising profitability. The methodology used is a reflective and interpretative essay, based on critical observation of existing conceptual formulations to justify the inclusion of the social dimension. The main result demonstrates that socio-environmental justice is indispensable for comprehensive eco-efficiency. It concludes by proposing a new definition where eco-efficiency is the sum of values indicative of economic and environmental sustainability and social progress, prioritising socio-environmental justice to preserve the rights of present and future generations.
