This is an analysis of the presence of the US SFAB military brigade in Colombia in 2020, framed within repressive anti-drug policies and geopolitical pressures against Venezuela. Amid violations of national sovereignty, the text debates the survival of US imperialism through the theoretical lenses of Wallerstein, Hardt, and Negri. It argues that although the United States faces a decline in unilateral hegemony and the global economy is governed by the concept of "Empire" (a decentralized, transnational order driven by collective capital), the Trump administration adopted unilateral and protectionist stances as tactical competitive maneuvers. Consequently, US actions in Latin America, inspired by the Monroe Doctrine to secure natural resources and geopolitical repositioning, constitute a paradoxical presence of classical imperialism operating inside the modern global Empire.
