LITERATURE AND TEACHING: A THEME AND ITS PROBLEMS

This introductory article aims to enlighten the proposed theme for the current number of Gragoatá magazine. It develops an analysis of literature’s role as a discipline and its relation with education itself. For this purpose, it discusses the diversity of analytical approaches and the way in which the topic has been handled by the Brazilian institutions and by our researchers. In addition to this, it observes in a critical manner the publications intended for Brazilian school education and, finally, gives a brief description of the articles that compose this journal.
