Abstract

Review of the recent history of linguistics from the viewpoint of its current developments: the ripening of the young field of cognitive sciences (specially, technologies of information and neurosciences) leads to substantive methodological revisions in linguistic analysis, which tends to become more interdisciplinary, more collegial and more committed to empirical verification by theoretical-independent classes of evidence.

Author Biography

Maria Margarida Martins Salomão, UFJF

Doutora em Linguística pela Universidade da California, Berkeley, onde desenvolveu sua tese sobre redes construcionais como solução para casos de polissemia, com a supervisão de um comite composto por Charles Fillmore (principal orientador), George Lakoff e Paul Kay. Foi Visiting scholar na mesma Universidade, no perÍodo 2006-2007, trabalhando na area de linguística cognitiva, com apoio da CAPES. Líder do grupo de pesquisa GRAMÁTICA E COGNIÇÃO, é Professora Associada da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, onde atua nos Programas de Graduação em Letras e de Pós Graduação em Linguística. Pesquisa em desenvolvimento na área de Linguística Cognitiva, sub-área Gramática das Construcões (redes, estruturas argumentalis, aspecto e modalidade). No momento, está iniciando uma cooperação com o ICSI/ University of California, Berkeley, no propósito de desenvolver a versão da Frame Net para o Português
