Abstract

This article is a re-reading of the history of the French language postcolonial literatures in a broader context of transnational basically expressed by the emergence and affirmation of "migrant writings" as the privileged site of the world culture which postcoloniality is just, perhaps, one of the dimensions. To do this, it is to examine the modalities in which postcoloniality is registered, historically and culturally, in the phenomenon of the increasingly truly universal "migritude", of the "immigrant identity", according to Marco Micone's expression.

Paul Withfield Horn Professor of French e Jeanne Charnier-Qualia Professor of French Studies; dirige a cadeira de estudos franceses e francófonos na Texas Tech University. É autor e co-autor de oito obras, dentre as quais Les femmes dans le roman algérien (L'Harmattan, 1996), Cultures transnationales de France: des "Beurs" aux ... ? (L'Harmattan, 2001) e Recyclages culturels/Recycling Culture (L'Harmattan, 2003). É diretor da coleção Études transnationales, francophones et comparées / publicada pela L'Harmattan.
