Abstract

One of the most interesting features of contemporary gay studies is the possibility they open for a new look upon literary works from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This paper is concerned with a brief evaluation of this field of research, with special attention to Iberian literatures, as well as with the exploration of its heuristic possibilities in the study of Gil Vicente's theatre.

Jose Carlos Barcellos, UFF

Doutor em Letras pela Universidade de São Paulo (1991) e em Teologia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2000), Pós-Doutorado em Literatura Portuguesa pela Universidade Estadual Paulista, é Professor Adjunto do Instituto de Letras da Universidade Federal Fluminense. Publicou: O herói problemático em Cerromaior: subsídios para o estudo do Neo-Realismo português. Niterói: EDUFF, 1997; Literatura e espiritualidade: uma leitura de Jeunes Années, de Julien Green.
