The course of action of the ICU pediatric dentist towards children sexual abuse incidents

Abstract

This work aims to present the importance and role of the dental surgeon, specialist in pediatric dentistry, in a hospital environment, clarifying which signs and oral manifestations should draw attention to a possible child sexual abuse, in order to make a plausible report, truthful and evidence-based. A literature review was carried out with bibliography based on articles of the Federal Constitution and scientific articles found in platforms such as Google Scholar and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The search was done from 2002 to 2022, not limited to a maximum period of 10 years due to the difficulty in finding more current references that would help in the construction of this work. Notification manuals, oral manifestations and more recurrent Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) were found, signs that victims of sexual abuse may present and what behaviors to follow.
