much practiced, still little understood

Science communication initiatives that mix science and theater proliferate in various parts of the world, including Brazil.
However, research on the subject is still young, scarce and fragile, so that little is known about its characteristics and
its reception among different audiences. This makes it difficult to understand them in all their richness and complexity
and to know how exactly theater has contributed to the dialogue between science and society. Based on an immersion
in practice and research on the subject, in this essay we make a critical reflection on theater in the context of scientific
dissemination.
