Abstract

This article brings together reflections on the adequacy of Alfred Whitehead's theories to understand how kinetic artists approached nature, both in artistic research and on a theoretical level. The English philosopher's ideas about the natural world, its elements, relationships, structure, and behavior are explored, while probable applications of these ideas for the analysis of kinetic art are evaluated. The focus was on artists and works in which, explicitly and/or implicitly, it is possible to identify an interest in nature.
