Gramsci: education and collective thought
Abstract
The article discusses the centrality of education and the collective will in the construction of a new social and political order in Gramsci's thought. It presents the movement of thinking and Gramsci’s reflections both in pre-prison writings and in Prison Notebooks, based on the theoretical-political guideline of education and collective will, and its approximations between pedagogical relations and conscious direction. It points to Gramsci's emphasis on cultural struggle and political struggle. Thus, the concepts of “education” and “collective will” compiled by Gramsci are connected to the of "intellectual and moral reform", that is, to the question of hegemony.
