In June 2021, the city of Niterói implemented the Niterói Bike Tour Project. This is a tourist circuit that involves cyclists self-guiding with the help of totems that have digital signage and are available along the route. This article is an experience report from a ride with cyclists on the Niterói Bike Tour circuit held on October 28, 2021. The content presents the participants' perceptions about safety, infrastructure and available technology. Furthermore, the data collected by specific equipment to measure the effects of physical activity during the tour is also exposed. The results show that participants feel safer when cycling in groups and that there is still a need for improvements in signage along the entire length of the route. And, with regard to individual data, it was found that when using a bicycle instead of a car, each participant emitted 1,350 grams less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and had an energy expenditure of 242 calories considering 4,584 pedal strokes, at an average speed of 6.6 km/h in the period of 1h28.
