Abstract

The Academic Stomatherapy Nursing League (LAENFE), as a university extension project, promotes a formative dimension that is essential for students' education. Through it, it is possible to foster the integration between teaching, research and extension, sharing knowledge and know-how about enterostomal therapy among students, teachers, professionals and the community. Objective: to describe the experience of an academic stomatherapy nursing league within the triad of teaching, research and extension. Method: this is an experience report on the creation, implementation and consolidation of the league, as well as on the main activities carried out between 2019 and 2024 and their effects on the students, professionals and the community. Results: the league was founded in 2019 by nursing students, driven by a strong interest in the field of stomatherapy and with the support of a stomatherapist professor. LAENFE structured its bylaws, organized a board of directors and, even during the pandemic, maintained its activities remotely. In 2023, the league resumed its in-person activities, expanded its board and was accredited by the Brazilian Association of Stomatherapy. The selection processes are held every six months and are open to students from other universities. Activities are developed through theoretical and practical classes, discussion of scientific papers, academic days and extension actions, such as participation in health exhibitions and community projects. In addition, the league actively uses Instagram to disseminate scientific knowledge, strengthening the connection between the university and the community. Conclusion: LAENFE plays a decisive role in the education of students, providing theoretical and practical learning in stomatherapy. It effectively articulates the teaching, research and extension tripod, promoting the practical application of theoretical knowledge in community actions. The extension activities carried out are essential for sharing knowledge with health professionals and the community, ensuring the implementation of evidence-based care and the promotion of continuing education in nursing.
