Algorithms of Hate:

Political Radicalization, Digital Affects, and the New Electoral Propaganda

Abstract

This article investigates how extremist digital campaigns in Brazil reshape the public sphere and political language through algorithmic, affective, and symbolic devices. Based on a qualitative, theoretical, documentary, and critical approach, the study analyzes sources from 2010 to 2025, organized around four axes: cultural war, algorithmic microtargeting, disinformation as infrastructure, and communicational resistance. The results show that these campaigns turn politics into a device of emotional capture, shifting democratic foundations toward regimes of performative verisimilitude. The study concludes that effective responses require more than legal regulation: they demand ontoepistemic resistance, critical digital literacy, and new institutional forms of listening, mediation, and truth production.
