Résumé

Arthur Ramos (1903-1949) was one of the most prominent Brazilian anthropologists of the first half of the twentieth century, being one of those responsible for the process of institutionalization of anthropology in Brazil. Although widely known for his work at the Universidade do Brasil (University of Brazil) and the Sociedade Brasileira de Antropologia e Etnologia (Brazilian Society of Anthropology and Ethnology), his work in the Department of Sociology at the Louisiana State University in the United States is still little debated among the Brazilian anthropologists. The present work aims to analyze Arthur Ramos' work as a professor in the United States, examining letters, notes and programs for the course about "Races and Cultures in Brazil".
