Abstract

This paper analyzes the different communicative purposes which Content Interrogatives, usually called Wh- Interrogatives, are used for. Based on the principles of Functional Discourse Grammar, we propose to think the nature of interrogation from a tripartite typology: typical, rhetoric and meditative questions.

Author Biography

  • Michel Gustavo Fontes, Faculdade de José Bonifácio
    Graduação em Licenciatura em Letras - Português/ Espanhol (2009) e Mestrado em Estudos Linguístico (2012) pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (IBILCE/UNESP). Atualmente, cursa o Doutorado em Estudos Linguísticos nessa mesma instituição e é professor de língua portuguesa na Faculdade de José Bonifácio. Participa, além disso, dos seguintes grupos de pesquisa do CNPQ: Grupo de Pesquisa em Gramática Funcional , coordenado pela Profa. Dra. Erotilde Goreti Pezatti, e História do Português Paulista , coordenado pela Profa. Dra. Clélia Jubran. Tem experiência na área de Linguística, com ênfase em Teoria e Análise Linguística, atuando nos seguintes temas: funcionalismo, linguística histórica, gramaticalização, ordenação de constituintes e articulação de orações.
