Abstract

This article presents the results of three studies which investigated the production and comprehension of resumptive pronouns by children acquiring Brazilian Portuguese as their mother tongue and by adult native speakers of this language. Resumptive pronouns in several syntactic positions were tested and the results suggest that the use of these pronouns in BP is very limited but that the position where the pronoun appears seems to be relevant for its use by children.

Elaine Bicudo Grolla, USP

É professora na Universidade de São Paulo. Possui bacharelado e mestrado em Linguística pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Obteve o título de doutora em Linguística pela Universidade de Connecticut, EUA. Desenvolve pesquisa sobre a aquisição de diversos aspectos da sintaxe do português brasileiro. Além de seu trabalho com aquisição de primeira língua, também desenvolve pesquisa sobre a aquisição do português brasileiro como segunda e terceira língua.

Marina Rosa Ana Augusto, UERJ

É doutora em Linguística pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP); professora adjunta da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), onde atua na graduação e na pós-graduação; é membro do Grupo de Pesquisa em Psicolínguística e Aquisição da Linguagem(GPPAL) e do Laboratório de Psicolinguística e Aquisição da Linguagem (LAPAL/Puc-Rio).
