Having as its staring point the cultural shock between the worlds of the protagonist couple in Wide Sargasso Sea, this work approaches Rhys’s novel by establishing a dialogic exchange with theorists of translation and literature, seeking to evidence that the task of translating goes beyond a merely linguistic activity, it involves a cultural and discursive process, a confrontation with alterity and a commitment with difference.
