Abstract

A lot of Portuguese and Brazilian translations of Dubliners having been made in the last decades (at least seven already in the market, and other two coming), some aspects of its prose still remain invisible to the Brazilian and Portuguese reader, aspects that permit a very close link to the ulterior works of Joyce. Our aim, so, is to have a good look at some of these aspects that keep asking for translations.

Omar Rodovalho, UNICAMP

Doutorando em Letras pela Unicamp. Defendeu seu mestrado em março de 2013, uma retradução crítica do Dubliners de James Joyce acompanhada de reflexões sobre o ato de traduzir e as versões que o precederam. Atualmente no doutorado, sob orientação de Fabio Durão, estuda as zonas de indeterminação de sentido no Ulysses e a forma como estas foram recriadas por seus tradutores de línguas neolatinas.

Fabio Akcelrud Durão, UNICAMP

Professor do Departamento de Teoria Literária da Unicamp. Doutorou-se na Duke University, onde estudou com Frank Lentricchia e Fredric Jameson. É autor de Modernism and Coherence (Peter Lang, 2008) e Teoria (literária) americana (Autores Associados, 2011). Editor Associado da revista Alea, publicou diversos artigos no Brasil e no exterior, em periódicos como Critique, Cultural Critique, Latin American Music Review, Loxias, The Brooklyn Rail e Tópicos del Seminario.
