Abstract

This paper explores the contributions of a socio-semiotic approach (Halliday, 1978) to the studies of expertise in translation (Dimitrova, 2005). More specifically it analyses the textual production concerning the expert character of translators. It shows how the meaning produced collectively by translator and researcher are the language base of expertise (Matthiessen, 1998).

Doutor em Estudos Linguísticos. Professor adjunto da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto. Tem experiência na área de Linguística, com ênfase em Tradução, Tipologia Contrastiva e Descrição Linguística, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Tipologia Contrastiva, Estudos Multilíngues, Estudos da Tradução, Teoria Sistêmico-Funcional.

Cristiano Gonçalves Araújo, UFMG

Mestre em Linguística Aplicada pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Tem experiência em Estudos da Tradução, Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional e em Linguística Aplicada ao Ensino de Língua Inglesa. Atualmente é doutorando em Linguística Aplicada pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, atuando profissionalmente no Colégio Militar de Salvador, onde leciona inglês para alunos do Ensino Fundamental e Médio.
