In this paper, the sociolinguistics influences of a society on theory and practice of translation will be discussed, taking in consideration the foreign language teaching process. We take the theoretical assumptions of translation studies, linguistic variation and teaching proposed by Labov (1972, 1978 and 2003), Mayoral (1998), Guy Cook (1997) O’Malley and Chamot (1990) and M.Sneell-Hornby (1988, 1995).
