Abstract

This article aims at presenting grammaticalization synchronic tracks of the connector por causa que (‘by cause that”), from applying the principles designed by Hopper (1991). Moreover, this paper confirms that Hopper (1991) provides suitable principles to investigate processes of gramaticalization under a synchronic perspective.

Fabrício da Silva Amorim, IFBA

Professor de Língua Portuguesa do Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA). Tem Mestrado em Língua e Cultura, com área de concentração em Linguística Histórica, pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA). Cursa Doutorado em Estudos Linguísticos na Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP/São José do Rio Preto), desenvolvendo, sob a orientação da Profa. Dra. Sanderléia Roberta Longhin- Thomazi, pesquisa sobre a gramaticalização de conectores causais na história do português.
