LINGUISTIC VARIETY AND ITALIAN LANGUAGE TEACHING: AN EXPERIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM

Abstract

This article presents a survey whose main objetive was to determine whether Brazilian learners, studying Italian in formal education contexto for at least one year, have receptive sociolinguistic competence which enables them to identify the varieties of Italian and the dialects present in six scenes of an Italian movie. Results show that, in the study group, such competence is not sufficiently developed, and suggest that it would be desirable to devote more space to this aspect of language.

Elisabetta Santoro, USP

Docente da Área de Língua e Literatura Italiana e do Programa de Pós-graduação em Língua, Literatura e Cultura Italianas da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), graduou-se em Letras (alemão/inglês) em Bari (Itália) e em Tradução em Heidelberg (Alemanha). É mestre em Língua e Literatura Italiana pela USP e doutora em Linguística pela mesma Universidade. Seus principais interesses de pesquisa são: a indissociabilidade entre o ensino de língua e de literatura, a aquisição de segundas línguas e sua relaçao com o ensino/aprendizagem, a pragmática interlinguística e intercultural e a semiótica narrativa e discursiva. Entre suas mais recentes publicações: “Después de Krashen: reflexiones sobre el modelo del input comprensible”, Buenos Aires/Florença, 2011 e “Tradução e ensino de línguas estrangeiras”, Cad. de Tradução, UFSC/2011.

Graziele Altino Frangiotti, USP

Mestranda do Programa de Pós-graduação em Língua, Literatura e Cultura Italianas da Universidade de São Paulo (prazo para conclusão: jan/2014) e bolsista CAPES. Atualmente, estuda a presença de material para o desenvolvimento da competência sociolinguística em livros didáticos para o ensino do italiano como língua estrangeira. Graduou-se em Letras (portugues/italiano) na Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), no ano de 2009.
