The language we speak is a domain of knowledge and expression that reflects, in radical contrast, two ways of being in the world: those who like repeats and as one who creates. We can have a relationship with the language of subjection to set formulas, contenting ourselves with the repetition of a learned discourse, or we can accept the challenge to observe the operation of that speech and the ownership of the means of putting the language in the service of our creativity and of our findings. It is argued in this essay the second alternative as a means of providing students with a real prospect of enlargement of the intellectual and cultural horizons.
