Abstract

This article deals with the construction of the Cuban cultural identity imaginary in the first twenty years of the Republic from the dialogues of continuity and discontinuity with the colonia period. The controversies or counterpoints that took place on the theme of blackness as a key identity from the confluences and interinfluences with the social fabric constitute the thematic agenda that is strengthened to join us in the efforts to rethink the mystery of the Cuban identity in the Caribbean orbit.

Irina Pacheco-Valera, Insti­tuto Superior de Arte / Instituto Superior de Diseño

Historiadora, professora e pesquisadora cubana (Insti­tuto Superior de Arte - ISA; Instituto Superior de Diseño - ISDI). Graduada no Instituto Superior Pedagógico “Enrique José Varona” e na Universidade de Havana. Mestre em Ciências da Educação Superior (Centro de Referencia para la Educación Avanzada da CUJAE). Publicou diversos trabalhos em re-vistas nacionais e internacionais. Em 2007, recebeu Menção no Concurso de Ensaio, organizado pela revista Temas, de Havana, e o Prêmio Memória, do Centro Cultural “Pablo de la Torriente Brau”, pela obra La Sociedad Pro-Arte Musical. Testimonio de su tiempo (2011). Foi diretora e roteirista do docu­mentário Luces y sombras. Publicou recentemente o livro Diatribas identitarias culturales de Latinoamérica y Cuba (Havana: En Vivo, 2012).
