Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of Texaco from allegories narratives created by Patrick Chamoiseau to compose it as the saga of a people in search of its ‘Magic Seat”. With attention to the intertextuality between Chamoiseau’s novel and the biblical text, we identify the implications of the paper will struggle for space in the realization of the desire of the characters.

Author Biography

Keila Prado Costa, Universidade de São Paulo

Possui graduação (2006) e Mestrado em Letras (2011), pela Universidade de São Paulo. É membro do grupo de pesquisas Criação & Crítica (FFLCH/USP), que edita a revista eletrônica homônima. Atual­mente, coordena os materiais didáticos e de comunicação social destinados às famílias atendidas pelos programas habitacionais da Secretaria Municipal de Habitação de São Paulo (Sehab). Também coordena a produção editorial das publicações da Sehab, colaborando com a edição da série Novos Bairros de São Paulo. Entre as últimas publicações, estão o artigo “Que espaços são esses? Os planetas-favelas de Patrick Chamoiseau e Paulo Lins” (Revista Ipotesi, 2011), e os livros Jardim São Francisco – Projeto Global de Urbanização e O Urbanismo nas preexistências territoriais e o compartilhamento de ideias (Sehab, 2012).
