Abstract

After a survey on the translations of Horace’s satires into Portuguese, an analysis is done on how this work has happened since the 17th century, especially by a comparison between the versions of António Diniz da Cruz e Silva and Antonio Luiz de Seabra for satire 1.4, considering it as a beginning to understand translation as creation and criticism by a definition of rhythm related to vernacular poetics.
