Abstract

This paper tries to offer a theoretical base for the reading and interpretation of Greek Archaic Epic Poetry. It starts with a discussion about the definition of this literary genre among Ancient and Contemporary critics. Then, it condensates some fundamental principles of poetic and narrative composition, including the perspective of Ancient criticism and theory. Finally, it concludes with some remarks on creation and reception.
