This work analyzes the translation of Poema Sujo made by Leland Guyer (New Directions, 2015), focusing on elements related to the rhythm that are of great relevance in Ferreira Gullar’s work, namely: types of verse, rhymes and vowel and consonant reiterations. It is possible to say that Guyer’s translation project tries to recreate important elements in Poema Sujo, which includes some compensation strategies, although poetic correspondence is not always achieved in the translated text.
