The objective of this article is to analyze the book O dom do crime. We intend to identify how Lucchesi joins the literary tradition of criminal narrative and subverts it, breaking the structure proposed by Todorov (2013) and suggesting a surprising interpretation: would Dom Casmurro be a reinvention of the story of a real crime? To do this, we are based on Benjamin's (2012) concept of narrator, Silva's (2019) studies on Brazilian fictions that take crime as a central element, and Chalhoub's (2003) reflections on Machado's reading of brazilian imperial society.
