The article aims to understand the contemporary rupture of the detective novel in the work of Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza, manifested trough the autopsy, or introspection, of the genre in its classic form. This introspection manifests itself as the fantasy environment of the detective Espinosa, according to the subjectivity of his thoughts. This means that the form of the detective action only finds its nature in the detective's ramblings, pointing to the complete loss of any definitive resolution to the crime. We try to prove that Garcia-Roza reflects on the genre through an autopsy of the rules printed in the tradition, in which the peculiarities of the detective Espinosa would not fit, making room for the presence of literary readings in an environment that excludes them. In this sense, the autopsy is a means of recognizing the already introspected tradition.
