Abstract

This article is intended to study the Black Death, in this case, the Great Plague of Lisbon of 1569. To this end, its eventuality will be flexed between 1348, the year in which the plague appeared on the European continent, with the year of one of its occurrences in Lisbon, in the aforementioned year 1569. Emphasis will be placed on the religious aspects resulting from the contamination, since one of the consequences is the religious destabilization that it causes. To this end, the performance of the Dominican Order will be evaluated through the study of the Breue Summario, a text by an anonymous Dominican that presents the development of preaching friars within this epidemic context.
