Abstract

In this article we will resort to an approach to the rock genre in the Argentine context, seeking to understand how this musical style influenced the Argentine social, cultural and political history throughout the first three decades of the second half of the twentieth century, as it influenced the behavior, the mentality, the phonographic market and the desires of a generation that emerged as increasingly important in the public scene of the country: the youth. We also seek to understand how this musical style was an important channel of expression and means of articulating spaces for youth participation in the cultural and political life of their country, in the midst of contexts of growing hostility towards the free manifestation of youth. In this sense, importance will be given to its role in the resistance and formation of a new behavioral identity throughout the period of the Military Junta dictatorship, between the years 1976 and 1983, and finally, in the context of the Falklands crisis.
