This research aims to understand the possibility of achieving the sustainability objectives set by the United Nations Global Digital Compact in the context of advances in AI systems. The topic is first developed by identifying the capacity of these tools, with an emphasis on their use in favor of the environment. It then analyzes the Global Digital Compact and its impact in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the 2030 Agenda. Finally, it presents the obstacles that exist in this context, given the control and domination that prevail in the technological landscape. It concludes, with confirmation of the hypothesis put forward, that AI systems can be used for the benefit of a more sustainable environment, if there is, firstly, a partial overcoming of the digital monopoly by big techs and nations such as the USA and China. Methodologically, this is exploratory research, with a hypothetical-deductive procedure and a bibliographic review research technique.
