Abstract

The Sociology of Disability is a field of study that explores the experiences of people with disabilities and their social interactions, focusing on how social norms, practices, and attitudes shape their lives. This discipline seeks to understand the social, cultural, and structural barriers limiting access to education, employment, healthcare, and other services, advocating for social inclusion and equal opportunities. A key aspect is the analysis of disability as a social construct, emphasizing how societal perceptions and media representations influence the way people with disabilities are viewed and treated. Concurrently, the legal analysis of disability examines the legal frameworks that protect the rights of people with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to public and private services and addressing discrimination. Both sociological and legal approaches are interconnected, aiming to transform social attitudes, reform public policies, and foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities.
