Abstract

“Remédios” family, calling itself “Caiçara”, lives in “Robunda”, Martim de Sá, Saco
das Anchovas and Cairuçu das Pedras in Paraty/RJ municipality. Gathering low-impact
strategies series, eg, fishing with floating Siege. This gear has been brought to Brazil by the Japanese around 1920 and incorporated in life daily and local/ traditional knowledge this family system. The Siege has low impact characteristics on the environment as it enables management by the fisherman. It is this fishing art an interesting way for dialogue of scientific knowledge and local/traditional knowledge towards environmental conservation.
