Abstract

In South Africa, racial segregation and forced removals in rural areas are social processes constructed from a dependent relationship. The racist policy was responsible for create a social environment characterized by insecurity land tenure and, mainly, by restriction on legal access from the black population. In this article, we seek to question how different conceptions of land rights coexist in the South African context. We pretend to discuss the discourses defended by each party at the pole of the dispute, which aims to demonstrate the right to live – and not exactly to property – in a land.
