Although Miguel Reale's work is known and celebrated in different parts of the world, his study and reference have, for some time, been restricted to the propaedeutic disciplines of legal education. This initiative, part of an exercise for the main author's doctoral research, seeks to situate, discuss
and assess the adequacy of Miguel Reale's work, to discuss part of the dynamics of the Brazilian legal experience involving one of the main specialized actors of legal culture national (the Supremo Tribunal Federal) and one of the most resistant lay actors (the indigenous movement for land and
territory rights). At this point in the research, the exercise focuses on the description and debate of Miguel Reale's ideas about the legal experience and the challenges to use his theory for the purposes described.
Key-words: Legal Culturalism. Indigenous Question. Supremo Tribunal Federal
