Rural workers and barriers to accessing social security protection
Goal: I present some reflections based on ethnographic experiences with two groups of rural workers on relationship systems that bring together different social agents around agricultural production in municipalities of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Methodology: Having dedicated myself to understanding the meanings of the social and productive practice of the producers, I ran into the contradictions of the imposition of productivity standards and ordering of actions far from the reality of these farmers. Results: This process can be understood from the analysis of the requirements imposed to access the rural social security benefit, proposed in the current context of Constitutional Reform 103/2019. Implications of the study: I highlight in this text a fundamental perspective for the recognition of other rationalities that are constituted from principles of ordering of thought different from those shared by the field of Law. Originality: The commitment assumed is to adopt a comprehensive perspective on the representations and social actions of the subjects inserted in this context of claiming rights. Conclusions: the profile of the beneficiaries delimited by legal categories is far from the living conditions of these social agents and the principles that guide their work.
