Political violence against women is a current and worrying problem in the country's social and political landscape. It is a type of gender-based violence that occurs inside and outside Parliament. Outside Parliament, the use of the internet, especially social networks, as an instrument for perpetrating this type of violence stands out. In many cases, the discourses that permeate such aggressions reveal the intention to prevent women from participating in spaces of power and decision. The article aims to investigate how gender-based political violence is practiced inside and outside Parliament, as well as the role of the Internet and social networks in aggravating this situation, allowing, for example, offensive messages that delegitimize women's candidacy and political representation to gain national reach in the virtual world. Through a deductive method and exploratory research, this research sought to highlight how female representation is exposed to constant attacks, from candidacy to after being elected. Through documentary research, it was found that legislation aimed at protecting women and combating police violence is merely symbolic, resulting in no practical effects, since parliamentarians themselves are responsible for assaulting women who are part of the National Congress.
