Besides the 20 years of Clóvis Moura's death, 2023 also marks 10 years of the June 2013 protests and 20 years of the first PT presidency. The text weaves connections between these events, through the thread of Clóvis Moura’s thought. The aim is to point out the Mourean contribution to complexify the readings about June 2013 and the current context, by restoring the centrality of the racial issue in the constitution of the modes of production and social structure in Brazil. Mourean concepts of quilombagem and differentiated and specific groups are reviewed, as well as some interpretations about June 2013. In the end, it is concluded that June 2013 manifests the limits of a liberal leftwing project limited to renegotiating the mechanisms of racial barrage, never overcoming them, and which, ten years later, is resumed, ignoring the contradictions that exploded then and that are growing again.
